Set Designing Workshop

Introduction - Today film-making has not just remained an art form, it has become a very big industry with turnover in crores, and hence detailed work is done on every aspect of film making such as costumes, sets, VFX, choreography, music etc.

This workshop helps students in developing a new perspective towards films. It inspires them to appreciate a film as an art form and not just as a means to entertainment.

Media is a booming industry and with the launch of OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar etc. it’s the best time for content makers. This workshop introduces students towards another lucrative design career option, to work as a production designer, art director or set designer.

Objectives of this workshop:

·  To enable students to appreciate films and consume them as a visual language and not just entertainment.

·  To break the mould of space design limited to interior design, architecture and landscape.

·  To introduce students to another design stream.

About Tutor

Sarang Patwarddan is an actor and an architect.

He studied architecture at B.K.P.S. College Of Architecture, Pune and later completed a diploma in acting from Anupam Kher's acting school  'Actor Prepares'. As an actor he has been working across different platforms such as theatre, web, television and films.  He has worked with some eminent art directors such as Nitin Chandrakant Desai and Sabu Cyril  as a set designer as well.

Architecture and performing arts these two aspects of his professional life merge together as an academician, as he teaches how set designing is nothing else but a visual language to convey stories.
